Get to Know the Owner

Growing up in the Front Range of Colorado, Alyse Piburn spent most of her time outdoors exploring in nature. As she grew older she fondly remembers spending time in the gardens of both her grandmas and starting to learn about Iris, Cosmos, Lilacs, Geraniums, growing tomatoes, and more. A love for snowboarding brought Alyse to Summit County in 2001, where she eventually reconnected with gardening and landscaping after helping her mother take care of gardens in the Grand Lake area during the summers.

She returned to the Fort Collins area to study Horticulture and after developing a business plan, Mountain Roots began to grow. Alyse is passionate about using Sustainable practices and mindful about water conservation, sourcing locally, and not using harmful chemicals.  She specializes in perennial and annual gardens for all seasons using ground beds and containers. Mountain Roots was recognized as Environmental Champion by the Summit Chamber of Commerce in 2019, as well as a Finalist for Small Business of the Year 2019 and 2020, and in the top 3 for Best of Summit County Landscapers in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

In 2022 Alyse relocated in the Eagle County area where she looks forward to a enjoying a little less winter, a longer gardening season, and growing new varieties of plants.
